Why wrap wardrobes instead of replacing them?

Fitted wardrobes are built to the room, so replacing them means removing the old units, making good the walls and floor, and fitting new ones to measure. Wardrobe wrapping keeps the carcasses, rails, shelves and sliding gear you already have and changes only the finish of the doors and visible panels, which is why the job is quicker, quieter and far less disruptive.

Which wardrobes can be wrapped?

Most wardrobe doors made from MDF, chipboard, laminate or painted timber can be wrapped. Sliding wardrobe doors can usually be wrapped too, including the frames and the infill panels, while mirror and glass panels are left as they are.

Freestanding wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedside tables can be wrapped to match, so the whole bedroom has one finish. See furniture wrapping for more on individual pieces.

Popular wardrobe finishes

  • Light oak and ash wood grains, for a calm, natural bedroom.
  • Soft-touch matt in warm white, taupe, sage or deep green, for a painted look that is smooth to the touch.
  • Textured fabric and leather-effect films, for a hotel-style finish.
  • Dark walnut, for a richer, more traditional room.

How KWrap wraps a wardrobe

  1. 1

    Survey and samples

We count the doors and panels, check for damage and show you samples in the bedroom light.

  2. 2

    Preparation

Handles come off, sliding doors are lifted out if needed, and every face is cleaned and repaired.

  3. 3

    Wrapping

Film is heated and stretched around every edge, with sliding door frames and panels wrapped separately.

  4. 4

    Refit

Doors are rehung and adjusted, sliding doors refitted to their runners, and handles go back on.

Wardrobe wrapping suits

  • Fitted wardrobes that are solid but dated
  • Mirrored sliding wardrobes where the frames have faded or chipped
  • Bedrooms being redecorated, where the wardrobe is the largest surface
  • Rentals and holiday lets that need a quick refresh between guests or tenants

Wardrobe wrapping is not suitable for

  • Doors that are swollen, split or badly delaminating
  • Heavily carved or deeply moulded doors

What affects the cost of wardrobe wrapping

Wardrobe wrapping is quoted on the number of pieces and how much preparation they need.

The quickest way to a price: send a few photos on WhatsApp, any day from 7am to 9pm.

Number of doors and panels
Each door, panel and filler is prepared and wrapped individually.
Hinged or sliding
Sliding doors with frames and infill panels have more parts to wrap than plain hinged doors.
Condition
Chips, dents and old peeling vinyl need repairing before new film goes on.
Finish
Textured wood, fabric and leather-effect films vary in price.
Matching furniture
Bedside tables, drawers and dressing tables wrapped to match add to the scope.

Why homeowners and businesses choose KWrap

Wrapping is the whole job

KWrap is a vinyl wrapping specialist for kitchens, homes and commercial interiors. Specialism matters because a wrap is judged at its edges and corners, where film has to be heated, stretched and sealed by hand.

Days, not weeks

Most kitchens are wrapped in a day or two, because nothing is ripped out and nothing new has to be made to measure. Your existing units, plumbing and appliances stay exactly where they are.

No rip-out, no mess

Wrapping goes over what you already have, so there is no demolition, no skip on the drive and no weeks of eating takeaways while a kitchen is refitted.

Real samples, in your light

You choose from physical film samples held against your own walls, floor and worktops, because a finish on a phone screen never looks the same as film in your room.

Wardrobe wrapping: your questions answered

How much does wardrobe wrapping cost?

Wardrobe wrapping costs depend on the number of doors and panels, whether the doors are hinged or sliding, the condition of the surfaces and the film you choose. Wrapping costs much less than new fitted wardrobes because the carcasses and storage stay in place. Send photos on WhatsApp or call 07904 099566 for a quote.

Can you wrap sliding wardrobe doors?

Yes. Sliding wardrobe doors can be wrapped, including the frames and the infill panels. The doors are usually lifted off their runners to be wrapped, then refitted and adjusted.

Can you wrap mirrored wardrobe doors?

The frames around mirrored sliding wardrobe doors can be wrapped. The mirror glass itself is usually left uncovered so it still works as a mirror.

How long does wardrobe wrapping take?

The time wardrobe wrapping takes depends on the number of doors and panels and how much preparation they need. KWrap confirms the timescale when it quotes.

Can you match my wardrobes to my bedside tables?

Yes. Bedside tables, chests of drawers and dressing tables can be wrapped in the same film as the wardrobes, so the whole bedroom has one finish.
